This is a random color generator with three input methods: Color Wheel, Manual Input, and Image Picker. The Color Wheel lets you spin instantly to get a random color. With Manual Input, you can add colors from our preset colors list or input your own custom colors. The Image Picker allows you to upload an image, from which the system extracts a color palette, then you can add colors from the palette or directly from the image. Once the wheel is set up, simply spin it to receive a random color. For Manual Input and Image Picker, you have the option to hide the selected color. The All Results section will save the chosen color.

  1. Color Wheel: Which contains all the colors spectrum.
  2. Manual: Add your predefined color choices for personalized results.
  3. Image Color Picker: Upload an image and extract colors directly from it.

2. Input Methods

2.1. Random Color Generator Wheel

The default option of the tool, the random color generator wheel, includes a full spectrum of colors. Simply spin the wheel, and it will pick a random color for you in seconds. This feature is excellent for brainstorming, generating inspiration, or adding an element of surprise to your projects.

2.2. Manual Color Input

Looking for something more tailored? The manual input option lets you enter specific colors to form your custom wheel. Whether you’re a designer working with brand colors or a teacher creating an engaging classroom activity, this feature makes the tool adaptable to your needs.

2.3. Image Color Picker

Transform your favorite images into a color palette generator. Upload an image, and the Color Picker Wheel allows you to pinpoint colors directly from it. This feature is ideal for designers drawing inspiration from photographs or anyone looking to recreate a particular aesthetic.

3. How to Use It?

Choose Your Input Method: There are three input methods for the random color generator.

  • Color Wheel
  • Manual Input

3.1. Color Wheel

  1. Select Color Combination: Choose a color combination that suits your design needs.

  2. Choose Spinning Pointer Method: Decide how to select the primary color.

    • Manual: Drag the dot vertically along the line on the color wheel to your desired position before spinning.

    • Random: The system will automatically move the dot along the vertical line during the spin until it stops.

  3. Spin the Random Color Wheel: Click the SPIN button to start the wheel. Once it stops spinning, the position of the dot determines the primary color. Based on your chosen color combination, the tool will generate a color palette.

  4. View and Adjust Results: The selected color palette will appear as a list of colors. You can adjust the results in the input section.

    • Adjust the primary color by moving the dot on the small color wheel.

    • Alternatively, refine the color by entering its HEX code in the input box.

      A new color palette will be regenerated accordingly.

3.2. Manual Input

  1. Add Colors to Input List: There are three ways to add colors to the input list.

    • From Picker Wheel Color Palettes. Use the dropdown list to select a predefined palette. After selecting a palette, you can insert All: Add all colors from the selected palette to the input list by clicking the Insert All button.     • Manual Single Entry: Click the +Add button to open the color picker or manually input a color using HEX or RGB codes.

    • Import Colors List: You can use the provided formula to type or paste new inputs, each color per line. Or upload a .csv file containing the desired color values. PW view or import inputs button PW import csv button

  2. Customize Input Settings:

    • Rename Colors: Click the paint icon on an input color to edit its name. This name will appear on the spinning wheel if the Text option in the Result Show Mode is enabled.

    • Disable/Enable/Delete Inputs: Manage each input individually, or click the Select button to choose multiple inputs for enabling, disabling, or deleting them at once.

  3. Choose Result Show Mode: Choose how colors appear in the result popup. All options are checked by default. Color is mandatory and cannot be unchecked; others can be toggled.

  4. Spin the Wheel: To pick a random color, click the SPIN button to start. The wheel will spin and randomly then stop at one of the input colors.

3.3. Image Picker

  1. Add Colors from an Image

    • Click the New Image button to upload your desired image.

    • System will automatically extract a color palette from the image.

    • From the extracted palette, you can:

      • Pick Specific Colors: Click on individual colors to add them as inputs.
      • Insert All: Click the Insert All button to add all extracted colors to the input list.

    • Alternatively, click on any area of the uploaded image to directly add specific colors as inputs.
  2. Customize Input Settings:

    • Rename Colors: Click the “+Text” button on an input color to edit its name. If the color already has a name, the button changes to a paint icon. This name will appear on the spinning wheel if the Text option in the Result Show Mode is enabled.

  3. Choose the Result Show Mode: Choose how colors appear in the result popup. All options (e.g., Text/HEX/RGB) are checked by default. Color is mandatory and cannot be unchecked; others can be toggled.

  1. Spin the Color Wheel Spinner: Click the SPIN button to start. The wheel will spin and randomly stop at one of the input colors.

4. Wheel Customization?

The wheel can be customized or configured in a variety of ways to match different use cases.

You can easily do this in the Tool Settings section (below the wheel section). The tool settings is located at: (click to expand) Tool settings location

The following settings can be changed:

  • Spin Behavior
    • Spinning speed (lvl1 to lv10).
    • Spinning duration (1s to 30s).
    • Enable manual stop button.
    • Mystery spin (replace inputs on wheels with “?”)
    • Spin count
    • Random initial angle.
    • Initial Spinning
  • Confetti & Sound
    • Disable/Enable confetti.
    • Sound on/off.
    • Customize starting, spinning, and ending sounds.
  • Background Color - Change the background color of the whole section.
  • Background Image - Add a background image at the wheel section. (Premium Users)
  • Spin Button - Customize your own spin button. (Premium Users)
  • Banner | Logo - Adding your own logo or banner. (Premium Users)

5. Create New and Switch Color Wheel

There is a switch wheel button located at the header bar (desktop version) or inside the file button menu (mobile version). Switch wheel button

Click the "Create New Wheel" button to get a new empty default Color Picker Wheel. You can produce up to five color wheels and switch back and forth among them. For example, you can design different sets of wheel of colors. *Please take note only the data of the current active wheel is kept for the next visit. Once you refresh the page, all wheels other than the active wheel will be lost. Switch wheel menu

6. Enable Title Section

If you change the title to your own, your visitors will know the purpose of your color wheel spinner, such as "Color Wheel Game".

You can open or close the title section by clicking the Title Button from the Inputs section. Open or close title section

7. View All Results

Click the "Open All Results" button to see all of your previous colors generated. Open all results button

It will show all of the random colors generated by the wheel since the first spin of your current visit. All color results history

You can click the "Open Results" button to open the results page where you can share it with other people. Open results page button

8. Share Results

There are two kinds of result you can share. One is single result and another one is all results.

  • Single Result. The only way to share your single result is at the moment the result is announced. Click the share icon. Single result share button

  • All Results. After you open results page, you can create a result link to share with other people. You can also download the results image at the result page. Results page

9. Full Screen View

By clicking the full-screen button, you can enter or leave the full-screen view mode. (Available on a tablet and desktop device) Full screen button

Entering full-screen mode enlarges the size of the wheel picker and hides the inputs section. Full screen view

You can still see your results or scores from the "Open All Results" button.

10. Types of Result Action Modes

For the Random Color result mode, there are up to two action modes available in this color randomizer for different use cases.

10.1. Normal Mode

If you're familiar with the main Picker Wheel, you'll recognize this mode as it functions the same way on this random color wheel. Choosing this mode for the selected result does not influence the outcome.

10.2. Elimination Mode

If you select the "hide choice" option, the result will be temporarily removed from the wheel for the next round.

12. How to Share the App?

Click the share button from the top right corner of the website.

Decide "Allow people copy the wheel"?

Choose whether to include your current wheel's tool settings e.g. background color.

Click "Create Share Link".

Copy the link’s address or click the Copy or Facebook or Twitter buttons to share this Random Color Generator with other people.
